RIVERTOWNS ROTARY HAPPENINGS
The Rivertowns Rotary Club hosted a fundraiser in support of Sing Sing Correctional Facility's transformational theater arts program Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA) program.
We were proud to support the RTA program which breaks the cycle of incarceration with proven results: less than 3% of RTA members return to prison compared to 60% nationally.

Three time Oscar nominated movie Sing Sing was screened at the Look Theater in Dobbs Ferry where 69 Rotarians and community residents viewed the film. First we gathered for a "Meet & Mingle" and then were welcomed to participate in a panel discussion with Sing Sing's first female Superintendent and three RTA alumni who spoke to their lived experiences in the program.
Rivertowns Rotary is proud to welcome a new legacy member into the Club. Daniel Cohen, son of Rotarian Lisa. Daniel has a long history of service, from his work in support of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to helping train service dogs, he will now add Rotary to his committment to giving back.

Rivertowns Rotary donated over 200 Dunkin purple donuts to Mav Market to assist in their efforts to reduce student food insecurity on campus.
Why Purple? When a child is immunized through Rotary's polio eradication project, Rotarians mark their pinkies with a topical purple dye to prevent double dosages.
Rivertowns Rotary continues its annual scholarship presentation to community high school seniors that demonstrate a sustained dedicaction to "service above self".
Recipients Claire Tierney from Ardsley & Melina Clifford from Dobbs Ferry
Recipients Ana Bjorgvinsson from Irvington & Elianna Carvalho from Hastings
The Rivertowns Rotary Club secured a "New Beginnings Bell" from Alexa Spar from Project Bell to donate to St. John's Riverside Oncology Department.

Ron Gold, motivational speaker, shares his inspiring life story with the group. Ron described how a devastating car crash left him paralyzed and his journey back from Wall Street to Wheelchair to healthcare executive.  He explained what motivated him to reinvent home care by starting LeanOnWe which eliminates the agency middleman, changing how Americans hire private caregivers.
Since the Greenburgh Graham School in Hastings became Rivertowns Rotary's recipient of our 2022 service partnership, our relationship has remained strong. When we were contacted to help support the schools winter cloth drive, we rose to the occasion, collecting two car-loads of cloths. Some members even reached out to their private network to contribute.

16 year old co-founder of Project Bell, Alexa Spar, familiarizes our Club with her remarkable organization that donates "New Beginning" bells to cancer & transplant centers. Bells are rung by patients receiving chemotherapy, radiation and organ transplants, along with their families and the staff to celebrate the completion of treatment.
